WASTE TO ENERGY
Businesses in the region have a lot to contribute to a more sustainable future for their customers and our region.
BIOGAS BUILDING BLOCKS
Industrial, Commercial and Institutional businesses in the region produce approximately 50,000 MT/year of organic waste including food waste, fats, oils and grease. These organic materials are particularly suited to the production of biogas.
RENEWABLE ENERGY GOES A LONG WAY
The Surrey Biofuel Facility’s anaerobic digestion system converts ICI and residential organic waste into Renewable Natural Gas that is used to power the City’s waste collection trucks, fleet vehicles and Surrey Centre Energy District. The facility has the capacity to produce 120,000 gigajoules of RNG per year.
